Introduction This post is intended as a brief introduction to the Forestry Act 1967 and recent changes brought about by the Agriculture (Wales) Act 2023. The Agriculture (Wales) Act 2023 serves to amend the Forestry Act 1967, amongst other Acts, by bringing powers up to date and adding flexibility for both the landowner and the governing body, Natural Resources Wales. Great to see school orchards!

Isn't it great to see so many fruit trees and orchards planted on our Education sites. Not only for the education benefits they provide but also for the obvious...free fruit. I don't think there is a happier tree inspector than the one wondering around the site munching on a freshly picked apple or pear. Its also great to see how many schools now have outdoor classrooms and small forest education areas. I believe its termed "natural play" these days but whatever it is called, it's good to see children playing in and around trees.
